Weekly Message: November 27

Hello Families! We are excited to see you on Friday November 28 during Conferences.

Our learning from this week:

Math:

We have introduced patterning and worked on recognizing familiar dot patterns like found on dice. We also looked at dots and how they can be arranged or grouped and still make the same amount.

Literacy:

We introduced the letters Aa and Mm using our UFLI literacy program.  We were able to practice forming these sounds and printing the letters.

We continued to explore our outdoor environment this week using our five senses.  The children noticed things like crunchy snow, frosty breath, and cold air touching their skin.  They noticed that snow doesn't have much of a smell.  We also had lots of fun digging and playing with the snow.

Afterwards we worked on making different kind of lines (straight, horizontal, vertical, slanted, curvy) to make a winter picture with snowflakes and wind.  You can see those on display during our parent-teacher conferences this Friday.

We also had circle time today with Mr. Buchanan. Students shared about their favourite thing(s) to do in winter.

Conferences:

We look forward to seeing families at conferences.  They are only 15mins long, so please ensure you arrive on time.  Please wait in the hallway outside your child's classroom until the teacher invites you in. (A great chance to look at the bulletin boards). It is your choice whether you bring your child, but most families do. This is an opportunity for you to tell your teacher about your child, ask any questions you have about Kindergarten and for the teacher to share beginning observations about your child's learning.
