Hello Families

 We were so proud of the Grade1/2 students on Thursday at the Terry Fox Run. They all tried their best to “Finish It” for Terry. We engaged in learning around Terry Fox all week during class, working on developing our reading and writing skills. Students coloured and read a book about Terry Fox, and completed a writing and picture prompt about a time they were brave. We also enjoyed counting the ‘Toonies for Terry’. We were able to put our counting by 2s skills to use!


Grade 1/2 is full of budding chefs! We had a great time learning about community and working together in the kitchen making soup. The vegetables from the Community Garden were put to good use in making the soup. First, we read Kohkum’s Kitchen about the importance of sharing knowledge and kindness with those around us. Then, we got to work chopping and filling our soup pot. Last, we enjoyed the soup together in community. 


We connected our learning about landmarks and places with Canada to the Community Garden learning and our work about Terry Fox. We have started a special art piece to represent landmarks around Montgomery and an important highway in the Terry Fox story.

Important Updates and Dates:

  • Communication Folders: Terrace Road students all have a communication folder that is used between school and home. Here, you will find work samples that your student can share with you. We will be sending home a piece of writing next week. Sometimes, the work will be accompanied by rubrics or notes about the task. This is an opportunity for your student to share their beautiful learning and work with you.
