Weekly Message: October 16

 October 16, 2026

It was a short week but a week full of learning! We continued our phonics lessons, reviewing short sounds a, i, and o. In math, we continued representing quantities, and our Grade 1 and 2 demonstrated their understanding of representing numbers in standard and word form. It was time to really put our number skills to the test! We continued working through our pattern booklets this week.

During our Wednesday walk, we explored the sun and shade by tracing our shadows. This was a big hit with the students! We also continued observing seasonal changes in our local environment and discussing what we notice as we move through autumn. We wrote about what our shadows like to “do” with us in our journals.

In P.E., we played running games and practiced passing a football with a partner. We continued building our movement skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship while learning to play together.

It was our first Family Friday this week. We split up and visited other classrooms to get to know other students and teachers in the school. Fun times were had. Ask your student what they did for Family Friday.
