Weekly Message: February 27

Hello Kindergarten families,

Our learning:

We went to the gym for an assembly and Celebration of Learning, the grade(s) 3/4 hosted. We talked about kindness and what it looks like in action!

Math:

In Math, students played math games and continued to build their number sense skills. We also introduced some activities that include patterning. We talked about how to make a triangle and how many sides it has.

Literacy:

We spent time working on forming the letter Dd and drawing things that start with the letter Dd in our journals. We have learned letters Aa, Mm, Ss, Tt, Pp, Ff, IiNn, Oo and Dd. We are getting better at recognizing our "heart" words (irregular words) and have been practicing reading these words. So far we have learned: The, I, a, is, and, as, & said. During carpet time, we practiced making phrases that included the word "said" in them.

Social/Science:

We continued learning about how animals survive in winter. This includes hibernation, migration and adaptation. We drew some of these concepts in our journals and will add more next week. We also talked about forest environments and students started cutting out trees for their winter forest environment. You can check these out during the Student-led Conferences next week. We look forward to sharing more of what we do in the classroom with you.

Physical Education:

We spent some time outside and also played games in the gym. The nets were taken down and we are getting ready for our next physical activity. (More details to come!)
