Weekly Message: April 23

Greetings kindergarten families!

We started the week, on Monday, with both classes together for most of the day. It was great for our students to visit room 7 again to enjoy learning, snacks, and centre play together.

We started our basketball unit in gym and students learned how to "dribble." We have already gotten better at moving around with the ball. Later, we will work on passing and shooting.
We practiced more of our "play" for next week's Kindergarten Assembly (and Celebration of Learning.) This takes place on Thursday, April 30 at 9:30 AM

We did a literacy assessment today that we will mark and be sending home for parent signatures next week. We sounded out words to spell and wrote a sentence. In our journals, we reflected on how we can care for the earth. We read the book "Listen to the Earth" by Carme Lemniscates and came up with ideas of what we can do to help care for our environment. Ask your child what they think they could do to help look after and listen to the earth.

In Math, we organized number cards in order from 1-10 and placed them in a line from left-to-right. (I forgot to take a picture of this.)

Reminders:
  • there is no school on Friday, April 24 (tomorrow)
  • Kindergarten Celebration of Learning is Thursday, April 30 at 9:30 AM
  • keep sending those daily message folders :)
  • Your student can sign up for Run Club before school in the mornings (forms with information will be sent home next week)
  • TRS spring dance is April 30

Have a great weekend,

Ms. Kinnear
