 Good Day Kindergarten Families!

This week in kindergarten, we were very excited to observe another big change in our classroom caterpillars. Many of them turned into chrysalises! The students were amazed to see how quickly they changed and enjoyed discussing the different stages of the butterfly lifecycle. We completed our second caterpillar observation in our journals, where students practiced carefully looking at details, drawing what they noticed and sharing their ideas through pictures and words.

We also created colourful caterpillar art projects that are now brightening up our school!

In Math, we continued with our exploration of the number 4 and how many ways it can be made. We played a pizza game in our journals and experimented with making number sentences (ie, 1+3=4, 2+2=4, 4+0=4.)

During our UFLI literacy lessons, we focused on the leter Hh and the /h/ sound. Students practiced identifying words that begin with H, forming the letter correctly, and listening for the sound in words. Take-home practice sheets and handouts were sent home to help reinforce these skills. Thank you for taking time to practice these activities together at home.

In Physical Education, we started our week enjoying time outside, playing tag games, and also practiced skipping skills. On Friday, our school recognized Jump Rope for Heart. Students had a wonderful time being active with their skipping ropes, practicing their jumping skills, and even counting how many jumps they could complete. It was a fun way to celebrate healthy hearts and active living together as a school community.

Zoo field trip forms were sent home this week for our upcoming full-day trip on Thursday, June 4. Please return forms as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support!

With joy from,

Your Kindergarten Team
