Weekly Message: May 8

Hello Kindergarten families! We had a great week learning Cricket with the Cricket Residency during our gym time. Students learned how to grip a bat and hold the ball for throwing. The first part of the week was spent in the gym and then we moved outside to play more of the game's style. Students had so much fun trying to catch the ball after someone hit it. They ran around "bases" to make runs and everyone had a chance to bat and be in the field trying to collect the ball. Ask your student what their favourite part of the games was.

Kindergarten participated in a school-wide writing activity. They wrote about a spring scene and things that they might see in spring. We went outside for our spring observations. In their journals, students made drawings and wrote about  what they could see in the natural environment. We did a nature scavenger hunt too!

In math, we are continuing to write numerals and represent numbers. We are also writing sentences to go along with these. This week we explored the number 3.

Since mother's day is coming up for some families, we read The Family Book by Todd Parr. We talked about how families can look different from each other and most importantly, a family is full of love. We did some artwork to reflect the love that families share.

During our library time, we had two guest readers from an older grade. It was inspiring to see the students interact together.
